PS Muthoni Tightens JKIA Borders Against Ebola Threat
The Ministry of Health, led by PS Mary Muthoni, has enhanced emergency preparedness and systems of monitoring at the JKIA to curb potential Ebola viruses.
PS Mary and ministry's health officials have partnered with the Kenya Airports Authority to audit and seal remaining holes in cross- border surveillance.

'JKIA remains a critical gateway into the country and a key point in strengthening our preparedness and response to Ebola virus disease. Today, we engaged the Ministry of Health staff and Kenya Airports Authority staff at JKIA on efforts to close surveillance gaps and strengthen screening and monitoring systems.' These moves address the large number of international and transit passing through the airport for general defensive protection.
During the exercise, emergency teams did inspections at arrival sections, which handled passengers from high-risk places. The officials confirmed that the gates are totally equipped with thermo scanners, automated hygiene stations, and isolation centers.
However, the port and airport staff underwent skilling on how to spot symptoms and manage emergency causes by sharing accurate real-time information.
The PS also requested the public to be in the front line to support government health channels. She urged the public to keep calm and avoid fake news online.
The recent measures are part of the broader campaign initiative aiming to ensure national health security remains resilient against volatile infectious threats.
